The Sire - Ildert 355

Daatje's sire, Ildert 355. Unfortunately, he was disproved on offspring so he can no longer produce registerable foals with the FPS. He is the half-brother of the great Teunis and son of Gerlof 294. I often wonder what ever became of him. You never hear anything about him, what happened to him after he was disproved on offspring? I wonder....

  1. Why would a horse be disproved? I have never heard of that before.

  2. In the FPS, the stallions that are initially approved for breeding are evaluated again based on their offspring, after a period of time. (I'm not sure of the time span) If the offspring are not to a certain standard, the stallion loses his approved breeding status. You could probably find more information on www.fhana.com, but that's my limited understanding of it. Daatje did well at her keuring, earning a 3rd Premium and entry into the adult studbook, but it would seem that the majority of his get were not up to par.

  3. Very interesting. So does that affect Daatje's registration status at all?

  4. Fortunately not. The offspring of a stallion that are registered when he is approved are not affected if he is later disproved on the collective quality of his get. Thank goodness! :)
